Compress PDF File Size
Reduce a PDF by rebuilding its pages as compressed images in your browser.
How PDF compression works
Each page is rendered and recompressed. This is useful for scanned and image-heavy PDFs, but selectable text and links become part of the page image.
Choose a quality
Use 60–70% for a practical balance. Documents up to 30 MB and 40 pages are supported.
Best suited to scans and image-heavy PDFs
Klikivo renders each page and creates a new compressed image-based PDF. This can reduce scans and presentations, but it is not appropriate when searchable text, links, form fields or digital signatures must survive.
Quality checklist
- Inspect small print, signatures, totals and thin lines.
- Compare several pages, not only the cover.
- Keep the original as the archival copy.
- Never assume the compressed result preserves a digital signature.
Why a file may not get smaller
A text-based PDF may already be efficient, while rendering its pages can increase size. If that happens, export again from the source application instead. Read the complete PDF compression guide for choosing the correct method.
